Callum has over thirty years of new product development for commercial and defense organizations. With broad experience at all levels of product introduction from proposal to handing over the keys, Callum has led the way in a remarkably diverse spectrum of projects. He has built and led many multi-departmental teams in the development of one off, highly complex, multi-million-dollar custom systems, to mass production deliverables. These include low flying satellites, power generation systems, armored vehicles, a multitude of specialist man-access systems, UAVs, propulsion systems, and very long endurance surveillance platforms. Callum’s specialty has been high risk needs to be right, first time clean sheet new technologies and solutions in domestic and international markets. From specific needs to blue-sky wish lists, the focus has been on first-time correct and viable solutions, applying effective and value-added methodologies.

In all of these endeavors in a variety of different organizations, Callum has developed tailored processes and procedures while enabling teams to be creative, yet focused on the identified need. With an eye to always being better, always improving ideas and methods, his plan and execution applies a holistic vision with a firm understanding of both the big picture and the details.

Customers include USMC, US Navy, US Army, DHS, SOCOM, DOE, US Coast Guard, ROKMC, NASA, DOD, DARPA, NAVAIR, Navy Research Labs, REF, DEA, DSS, and many more commercial customers covering involvement from Phase I SBIR to billion-dollar long term programs, start-up companies to international organizations.

A graduate of Brunel University, UK, he studied mechanical engineering and industrial design, as well as technician engineering early in his education. Callum came to the USA in 1997 to join an LTA research project, and his career advanced across many disciplines from energy generation to propulsion to stratospheric research and surveillance. Engineer to Principal Design Engineer, Project and Program Manager, Engineering Manager, Chief Engineer, Vice President: Engineering, CTO, and DSS certified FSO. He currently lives in North Carolina, where he enjoys restoring Land Rovers and playing Frisbee with his Border Collie, Angus.
